わかる！憲法前文 第1段！
この記事であなたも日本国憲法の前文がすっきりわかります！笑
日本国憲法前文は、内容はわりといいこと言ってるんですが、なんだか中身が頭に入ってこないので、英語で読むとよくわかるということがあります。
前文は英語でpreambleと訳され、日本国憲法前文(The Preamble of the Constitution of Japan)です。
ふつう、前文は4つ(段と数えます)に分けられるので、ここでも1段ずつ4段まで紹介します。今回の第1段が一番長くて、うしろの段ほど短いです。
日本国民は、
[We, the Japanese people],
〈正当に選挙された国会における代表者を通じて行動し〉、
〈acting through our duly elected representatives in the National Diet,〉
<われらとわれらの 子孫のために>、
[諸国民との協和による成果]と、
［わが国全土にわたつて自由のもたらす恵沢]
を確保し、
determined that we shall secure
< for ourselves and our posterity >
[the fruits of peaceful cooperation with all nations]
and
[the blessings of liberty throughout this land],
[ <政府の行為によつて>
再び戦争の惨禍が起ることのないやうにすること]
を決意し、
and resolved
[that never again shall we be visited with the horrors of war 〈through the action of government〉],
ここに［主権が国民に存すること]
を宣言し、
do proclaim
[that sovereign power resides with the people]
この憲法を確定する。
and do firmly establish this Constitution.

骨格的には、
"We determined and resolved and proclaim and establish"
という感じですね。
日本国民は、決意し(×2)、宣言し、確定する
となってます。
後半です！
そもそも国政は、国民 の厳粛な信託によるものであつて、
Government is a sacred trust of the people,
<その権威は国民に由来し>、
<the authority for which is derived from the people>*1
<その権力は国民の代表者が これを行使し>、
<the powers of which are exercised by the representatives of the people>,
<その福利は国民がこれを享受する>。
and <the benefits of which are enjoyed by the people>.
これは人類普遍の原理であり、(この憲法は、かかる原理に基くものである)。
This is a universal principle of mankind (upon which this Constitution is founded).
われらは、これに反する一切の憲法、法令及び詔勅を 排除する。
We reject and revokeall constitutions, laws, ordinances, and rescripts
in conflict herewith.

*1: Government にかかる関係節で、ふつうの文章に直すと、
"The ausority for Government is derived from the people."
以下の二つも同じ。
"The powers of Government are exercised by the representatives of the people."
"The benefits of Government are enjoyed by the people."
となる。
